‘The Welly’, as it is lovingly referred to, is the heart of the picturesque village of Lund……and offers a tasteful blend of old and new.
Russell and Sarah purchased the Wellington Inn in August 1995 and embarked on a full renovation/refurbishment project. On 16th October that year the doors to “The Welly” were thrown open to reveal a remarkable transformation. But we didn’t stop there, we are constantly reviewing our business and always have the next in house project in mind that we hope will enhance your visit. We don’t like standing still!
Here you will find a relaxed mixture of excellent food, comfortable interiors, great beers and wines in a stunning rural village location on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, mid way between the market towns of Beverley and Driffield and just thirty minutes drive from the historic city of York.
We are first and foremost a “Traditional Village Pub”. We offer a classic, contemporary style, with a formal restaurant and relaxing bar areas to enjoy our food offerings.
We have an honest approach to food, we keep it simple, and we keep it tasty. We try to have fun with food, yet never lose sight of the fact that the customer comes first. Accolades, Stars and rosettes don’t drive us forward, customer satisfaction does.
Having spent all our working lives in catering, Sarah heads the kitchen team, whilst Russell watches over the front of house and occasionally vice versa. We have a passion for quality and professionalism. We try to cater for every need, little people, dietary needs, disabilities or simply an off menu request. If we can help, we will. And yes, we use local produce and suppliers, but only if we feel it is the best available.
We won't compromise on quality, just to be trendy.
We are open pretty much year round with the exception of Christmas Day and New Years Eve and Day and the odd break to have some down time with family.
Boiler suit and wellies for a quick pint before tea, or dressed in black tie for dinner with friends, we welcome all and we and our team look forward to welcoming you soon.
